Hot Milk Maternity Lingerie: Sensuous or Soft Core?
By TheStyleEditor | July 20, 2007
Some people in New Zealand are unhappy with the images displayed in the catalog for new maternity intimates line Hot Milk. They feel that they border on soft-core porn.
Here are some of the images in question . . .

I get Victoria’s Secret catalogs every other day, and the girls in those mags are decidely more exposed. What’s wrong with images of beautiful pregnant women? Is there some puritanical refusal to acknowledge that pregnant women may be sexual or sensual? This seems strange, given that the fact that they are pregnant alone indicates some level of reproductive activity.
The argument seems to be that it is wrong to sexualize pregnant women. But it seems a backward view. Shouldn’t we look at how pregnant women feel about it, instead how we feel about pregnant women? Pregnant women still want to feel pretty and attractive, and to be given options that fit their changing shape. Pregnancy and post-partum are stages in life where a woman can go from feeling euphoric and randy to hormonal, nauseated and unattractive. These are both situations where some pretty lingerie might actually be wholly appropriate, to either encourage the mood, or raise a gal’s spirits.
