Happy New Year 2008! Futuristic trends …

    By TheStyleEditor | January 2, 2008

Can you believe it is 2008?! Remember when everyone was all a dither about Y2K? How can that have been eight years ago! Ack!

Over the holidays, we’ve had some time to chill out and catch up on all of our reading: newspapers, books, blogs, you name it. And we came across some very interesting stuff that reminds us that yes, we are living in the future.

Here is a very cool new product: Lancome Nail Care Vernis Magnetic Polish. Here’s the concept: paint your finger nails, then hold them up to a magnet that comes with the polish kit. Voila! Cool patterns emerge due to the polarized particles.

Another intriguing item out there right now is the Camileon Heel. Why didn’t someone come up with this before? The Camileon, which comes in 14 classic styles, has adjustable heels. Yes, that’s right, the actual heel retracts so that it can be worn at 3.25″ or 1.5″, making it easier to walk in. And to think, I’ve been carrying around an extra pair of shoes all these years, one for walking and one for fashion.

Prices range from $230 to $325, but it is well worth it for a pair of well-constructed shoes that serve two purposes in one!

And how about these new shoe/sandal things, the Dopie style from Terra Plana? The L.A. Times is touting them as one of the cool new products of 2008, though they look a bit like those things they put on your toes when you get a pedicure. However, they are supposed to be super comfy, engineered as a single-sole shoe that is the next best thing to being barefoot.
