Amazon.com used to be the place to go for books, but now it is an omni marketplace. There is nothing you can’t find at Amazon, and at great prices, too.
Everyone knows about Gap. They have the best basics (particularly at GapBody): T-shirts, jeans, cardigans, you name it. If you want simple and clean with no fuss, go to Gap or any of its off-shoot incarnations (GapKids, BabyGap, et al.).
The secret is out on eBay. The auction giant is a great place to get lesser-known, high-end designers and expensive beauty and hair care products at a reasonable price. Check out MAC makeup, Proactiv skincare products, Anne Klein shoes, and Bulga handbags. The best way to take advantage of eBay is to find a little known or up-and-coming designer who hasn’t hit the mainstream radar yet. Then you can get a crazy deal (like the $25 Jean-Michel Cazabat kitten-toe pumps I’m wearing right now.)
Macy’s is one of America’s top department stores. As such, you can find just about anything there: clothing (both ladies and juniors), shoes (from Nine West and Jessica Simpson to MiuMiu and Casadei), as well as high-end makeup and perfume selections (from Chanel, MAC, Origins), and fabulous bags (Harajuku Lovers, Michael Kors, Coach).
Shopbop features luxe, edgy designers. Hip but not teeny-bopper. Has fashion trend reports and a cool Look Book feature so you can check out how to incorporate current fashions into your personal style. The place to get Anya Hindmarch, Marc Jacobs, Juicy Couture, Goldenbleu, and a host of other of-the-moment names in clothing, jewelry, intimates, shoes and handbags.
Delia’s features a host of cute juniors items. Savvy shoppers should check out their accessories and outerwear: very cute, very on trend, very reasonably priced. Lots of super-cute offerings on handbags and other accessories, too.
